On the evening of July 23rd, 2016, for the third Sunday of Repentance as in our Chaldean Apostolic Eastern Liturgy, families are still requesting and inviting Father Noel Gorgis at their homes to pray and celebrate the Chaldean Divine Liturgy just like how the first early apostolic church started.
The Gospel for this Sunday was from Mark 7:1-23, it was about “Traditions and Commandments”, how the Pharisees and some of the Jewish scribes came to Jesus, trying to blame His apostles for not washing their hands before eating, according to their laws. Jesus replied to them: You’re trying to overwhelm the people by restricting them to follow your inhumane laws only! You’re using your authority to make yourself the core and make them follow your laws by putting the Lords’ rules to the side.
The temple and the church are for the faithful who wish to follow God to pray and worship Him, not to make you (any person) above God. The Jewish leaders should not be putting the Lord commandments aside instead of following His rules; they created inhumane laws to put themselves above others.
After the preaching, the faithful broke the bread and shared it together, and everyone went home filled with the grace of God.
