Pomegranate — the first Iraqi American narrative feature — written and directed by Weam Namou will screen on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3 PM at Emagine Royal Oak.

Filmed in Sterling Heights and centered on Michigan’s Chaldean and Muslim communities, the story explores identity, belonging, and healing. A young, politically liberal, Iraqi Muslim immigrant struggles to find her footing in a neighborhood of well-to-do conservative, Iraqi Christians while battling her family’s fears of deprivation and demands of loyalty to Muslim traditions.

Pomegranate has received over 50 international awards, is streaming in 25 countries, and was recently screened at the U.S. Naval Academy for its cultural and educational impact.
